Winter in Mongolia lasts about four months, from November to February. Temperatures are very low, they can reach -40 ° C. The spring, lasting until end of May, is still cold and often windy or rainy.
The Tugrik (MNT) is the local currency.Hardly any bank outside of Mongolia will stock Tugrik bills or even coins, so you'll have to change your money after arrival. ATMs are widely available. Credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops. Money changers are easily accessible and give better rates compared to hotels. US dollars are also accepted.

Mongolia is also home to the world’s oldest national park. Lying just South of Ulaanbaatar, the Bogd Khan National Park dates its origin to 1778 — it predates Yellowstone by over 100 years. Established by the Mongolian government in 1778, it was originally declared a park by Ming Dynasty officials in the 1500s, as an area to be kept off-limits, protected for its beauty and sacred nature.
