The Philippines celebrate Holy Week or Semana Santa, beginning with Palm Sunday and continuing through Easter Sunday. During this time, travelers should expect restaurant and mall closures, as well as increased demand for accommodation.
The Peso (PHP) is the local currency. In major cities, ATMs are widely available especially in banks and shopping malls. Most major hotels and bigger restaurants accept cards, but smaller businesses and those off the beaten track are mainly cash based.
